Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Rudy Gobert and F/G Joe Ingles
Utah Jazz Receive: F Gordon Hayward, G Terry Rozier, PJ Washington, 2021 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick, and 2024 first-round pick swap
The Utah Jazz currently have their top two players locked up long term. Donovan Mitchell is clearly not going anywhere, especially when looking at how important guards are in today’s NBA.
If the Hornets are connecting with Utah, it will be for Rudy Gobert in hopes of becoming a more perimeter oriented team. His inability to make mismatches pay offensively limited the Jazz in the Western Conference Semifinals and is inexcusable for a player earning so much.
Gobert and Joe Ingles would be going to Charlotte in a trade like this and Charlotte would have to pay. Utah is still a title contender moving forward. This means they will have to keep assets loaded and they could do that in this deal.

Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier would lead the return going back to the Jazz. They would also get PJ Washington, a first-round pick in this year’s draft, and two pick swaps. Utah would immediately land a younger replacement for pending free agent Mike Conley while adding a key wing and frontcourt piece.
Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around Rudy Gobert would benefit impact both the Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz.
