Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
As previously mentioned, the Pacers have been trying to acquire Gordon Hayward in recent seasons, only to be outdone or outbid by other teams. This time around, Indiana can make sure that they have an offer that Charlotte would be interested in, especially with Myles Turner included in the deal.

Even at 31 years old, Gordon Hayward is a trade option that is coveted by certain teams due to his ability to do a variety of things at the small forward position.
The Pacers are uncertain of what they want to do with T.J. Warren at small forward, so getting Hayward would make their decision easier. They could make a move for Hayward, and then move Warren for even more assets. Justin Holiday can be moved to a key bench role at small forward, which would finally give Indiana depth at the position.
At the same time, Myles Turner is almost as good as gone, so being able to get a player in return that they’ve longed to get would be a bonus. While McDaniels isn’t a starter in the league, he can earn a spot in the front court with the Pacers following Turner’s departure.
With Turner likely on his way out, and the Pacers wanting Hayward on their roster, there’s no doubt that a swap of those two players makes perfect sense for Indiana.
