Whenever Gordon Hayward was assumed to be leaving the Boston Celtics last NBA offseason, there was discussions being had on where he could go. There were reports that Hayward ‘had his sights’ set on joining the Indiana Pacers as a part of a sign-and-trade deal. However, the Celtics weren’t interested in Indiana’s offer for Hayward, causing the veteran forward to head elsewhere.

In the end, Hayward went to the Charlotte Hornets in a sign-and-trade, prompting Indiana to alter their offseason plan. But what if one year after missing out on Hayward, the Pacers are able to complete the trade they desired all along?

Given Charlotte and Indiana’s current outlook, both of them could be interested in having trade talks surrounding Hayward. Even with Indiana expected to undergo changes, they have plenty to offer Charlotte if the Hornets are open to dealing Hayward.
