Indiana Pacers Receive: F Gordon Hayward, F Jalen McDaniels
Charlotte Hornets Receive: C/F Myles Turner, G Jeremy Lamb, 2021 second-round pick (via UTA)
Seeing that the Pacers have been attempting to get Gordon Hayward in recent seasons, he would be at the forefront of the trade that involves Myles Turner. Hayward has three years and $90.4 million remaining on his current contract, which means that Indiana would have to match the money.
Myles Turner is owed $18 million a year for the next two seasons, so he can account for most of the money needed to match.

Aside from Hayward, the Pacers also get a young player in Jalen McDaniels in the deal. McDaniels was a second-round selection by the Hornets in the 2019 NBA Draft out of San Diego State. He is still on his rookie contract, so he doesn’t affect much in the financial department of the trade. On the other hand, to get the money to be nearly even, Jeremy Lamb could be on his way back to the Hornets.
Lamb spent four seasons with Charlotte from 2015-2019, starting in 78 games during that span. Entering next season, Lamb has one year left on his contract, and he is owed $10.5 million before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
To make the trade a tad more enticing, the Pacers will send a second-round pick to the Hornets, especially with Lamb on an expiring contract.
Let’s take a look at how this NBA trade scenario centered around Gordon Hayward would impact both the Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers.
