Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?

Zach LaVine was thought to be at the top of the rebuild for Chicago. He is a player to build around and that was supposed to be the plan for the front office. If they feel like there is more value with a player like Simmons at the point-guard position, they might have to move one of their stars.
This could also happen if they look to replace Zach LaVine on the perimeter. The addition of Nikola Vucevic showed that the Bulls is going to be aggressive and this would solidify that notion. Having Simmons to defend alongside Vucevic would help significantly as well.
Chicago finished just outside of the playoff race in a weak Eastern Conference. Moving forward, the Bulls know they can compete for a playoff spot and this could push them towards some blockbuster deals.
