The Philadelphia 76ers had an opportunity to close out the series versus the Atlanta Hawks at home in Game 7, only to squander the chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Ben Simmons heard it from fans inside the arena and on social media, criticizing his performance in the NBA playoffs.

It almost seems inevitable that Daryl Morey elects to separate the duo of Joel Embiid and Simmons by trading Simmons elsewhere this offseason. The Portland Trail Blazers would make sense as a possible landing spot, especially if CJ McCollum is included in the trade.

The pairing of Embiid and Simmons doesn’t seem fit for success in the postseason, with Embiid being the superior player. Some teams may view Simmons a bit differently now after seeing how performed in these playoffs. The three-time All-Star, especially in the series versus the Hawks.

In the seven-game series, Simmons had just two double-digit scoring games, and he shot 33.3 percent from the free-throw line. While Simmons is 24 years old and has room for growth still, Philadelphia can’t keep waiting around for him to evolve as a player.

For the Trail Blazers, they are going to have an interesting offseason after firing Terry Stotts. Damian Lillard remains the centerpiece for Portland, but the team around him could look vastly different next season.

With the 76ers and the Trail Blazers looking to make some revisions to their rosters, here’s a trade that would swap CJ McCollum for Ben Simmons, along with other pieces.
