After another early exit in the postseason, the Portland Trail Blazers could be leaning toward a blockbuster deal. We have seen NBA trade rumors of the front office splitting up their dynamic duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum but the latter is always the one being moved. Could the Blazers actually decide to trade one of the top players in the game?

At this point, the Blazers have exhausted all options. They have been eliminated in the first round in four of the last five years. This includes a series loss to the Denver Nuggets this time around. Portland has become a staple in the postseason but have not taken that step toward becoming a championship contender.

If Lillard is traded, it is highly likely that he forced his way out of town. It would be hard to believe that Portland decided to trade their star point guard under their own ambition. If Lillard wants to force his way out, the New Orleans Pelicans are a team to keep an eye on.

The Pelicans have an interesting package that they would be able to send Portland. They have gathered some young players and draft picks in hopes of landing that next-level superstar. The duo of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram was thought to be the future but they could also be split up if a better offer comes along. Lillard certainly falls under that category.

The Pelicans improved this season but were unable to be a postseason team in the Western Conference. This could lead to a blockbuster deal in hopes of improving further.

This would be a deal that turns heads right away and gains a ton of attention. Let’s take a look at what it might take for Damian Lillard to end up in New Orleans this offseason.
