Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in a very interesting situation as a franchise because they have a lot of unique, young talents, but they cannot afford to keep everybody as long as Kevin Love is on their roster. Trading him would be great, but nobody in their right mind is going to take on this contract, which is why rumors of trading Collin Sexton exist.

Right now, the Cavaliers have enough cap space to re-sign Jarrett Allen to a long-term deal, but signing both Allen and Sexton to long-term deals in the offseason would put the Cavaliers close to the hard cap, something they do not want to be near right now.
As a result, with one-year left on his rookie deal, trading Collin Sexton could definitely make a lot of sense for the Cavaliers if they were to get a lot in return. In this deal with the Bulls, they not only get Coby White and two draft picks within the next two years, but they also get two future draft picks as well.
Both short-term and long-term, the Cavs would be protected in this trade in case anything happened, which is why they should definitely look to the Bulls being a potential suitor in any offseason trades.
Obviously the Cavaliers would like to keep everybody, but with the way their roster is constructed right now with Kevin Love crippling them, they cannot keep all the young talent that they want to. As a result, Collin Sexton being moved this offseason is a very real possibility.
