Why this trade would make sense for the Miami Heat
The Miami Heat need to make a firm decision on what they want to accomplish during the 2021-22 NBA season. Do they want to go all-in and compete with Jimmy Butler at the helm? Or is the focus more or less to add pieces around Bam Adebayo as he develops? If now is the priority, Tyler Herro needs to get moved for a price that can perform immediately.
Terry Rozier’s shot creation and speed would bring the Heat a more vibrant backcourt option than Goran Dragic, who has a team option this offseason. Picking up the $19.4 million option in order to move him to a team that missed out on a point guard in NBA free agency could be a great option. Keep in mind, he will be 36-years-old before next season ends.
It’s important to note, Rozier will be entering the final year of his contract and is set to earn $17.9 million in 2021-22. That’s a fair value when considering his robust production. The Heat would land his Bird Rights and would be able to exceed the salary cap in order to re-sign him next offseason.

It’s clear a superstar isn’t going to come to the Miami Heat after they just got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks. They need to be practical with their spending room and their assets. Adding a player like Terry Rozier would go a long way in bringing an immediate boost without breaking the bank.
