Charlotte Hornets Receive: G Tyler Herro, F KZ Okpala

Miami Heat Receive: G Terry Rozier, G Cody Martin, 2021 1st Round Pick

The Miami Heat have aspirations of winning now and that’s not going to happen at the level they need by sitting around and waiting for Tyler Herro to become something that he’s not. The Eastern Conference improved a lot since the NBA Bubble and the status quo clearly isn’t going to cut it anymore.

While Rozier isn’t an All-Star talent, he put up an efficient 20.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists as his averages in 69 appearances this season. He’s still only 27-years-old so he would align well with Bam Adebayo’s timeline, not just an immediate boost while Jimmy Butler is around.

Charlotte would benefit from the addition of Tyler Herro to pair him long-term with LaMelo Ball in the backcourt. Terry Rozier had a strong 2020-21 NBA campaign, but ‘selling high’ on his production in order to ‘buy low’ on a trade package focused on Herro could be an intriguing scenario to consider.

This trade gives both sides exactly what they’re looking for in terms of talent, and it’s a very fair deal between two competitive rosters. Let’s take a look at how this trade directly impacts each team directly.
