Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon

Indiana Pacers Receive: F Cam Reddish, G Kevin Huerter, G Kris Dunn

The Pacers were decimated by injuries this year, but Malcolm Brogdon was one of the only bright spots on their team, even though he missed a handful of games with injuries as well. In 56 games this season, Brogdon averaged 21.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists and shot 45.3% from the floor, 38.8% from three-point range. Scoring-wise and rebounding-wise, these were career-highs for Brogdon in what was a career-year for him in his 5th season in the league.

Now, with two years left on his contract and him being owed $44.3M through the 2022-23 season, Malcolm Brogdon could be a player that peaks the interest of several teams around the league, the Atlanta Hawks being one of those teams.

The Hawks made big strides this year as a team and currently find themselves in a first-round series with the Knicks, but they will be looking to add more talent this offseason, specifically next to Trae Young in the backcourt.

Signing Kris Dunn did not work out the way they had imagined and with Lou Williams set to become a free agent, they will need someone that can take a lot of pressure off of Young in the backcourt. Brogdon is definitely a guy that can do this and would have no problem moving to the shooting guard position.

For Indiana, they would not only get Kris Dunn, but Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish are two young players that they could utilize on the wing as well, especially with T.J. Warren coming back after missing the year and being in the final year of his contract.

Huerter played really well for the Hawks this year and was the guy they turned to for production when a lot of their key talents went down with injuries. There was a point that Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, DeAndre Hunter and Cam Reddish were all out for the Hawks and the one guy left on the wing that stepped up in a big way was Huerter.

He averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and shot 36.3% from three-point range this season, which is why his value is at an all-time high right now and why he could be an intriguing young talent for the Pacers to want to add on the wing as a sharpshooter.

Cam Reddish has missed most of the year with injuries, as he has played in only 26 games, but in his short time on the court, he has made some big strides into being a two-way threat in this league given his length and scoring abilities.

Is this a trade that the Pacers would highly consider though, especially since Malcolm Brogdon was one of their better players this season? Let’s break down this trade from each team’s point of view and see if this is something that could potentially happen in the offseason.
