Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?

There are 30 teams in the NBA and none of them, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, should be interested in Kevin Love’s contract right now. He is owed just over $31M next season and then close to $29M during the 2021-22 season with none of his contract being non or partially-guaranteed.

If the Washington Wizards made this trade, they would have to pay Kevin Love in full through the end of his contract, assuming they would not buy him out at any point, which would be a ridiculous move for them to make.

They are already tight financially with Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrok carrying large contracts, which is why they cannot afford to make a move like this for a player like Kevin Love. They can go after another All-Star talent to pair with Beal and Westbrook, but getting Kevin Love would be a laughable acquisition for the Wizards.

What do they gain from making this trade? Well, they get three second-round draft picks, but they give up a young center they have been high on in Thomas Bryant, they get rid of a sharpshooter they just gave a massive contract to in Davis Bertans and they get rid of a solid rotational guy in Chandler Hutchison.

So really, Washington gains nothing, they have to pay more money, and they are going to be the same team they are this year with Kevin Love next year. If I am the Wizards, I am laughing at this trade proposal on the phone with the Cavaliers and hanging up immediately.
