Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Getting rid of Kevin Love’s contract is a major win for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but Davis Bertans is owed $65M through the next four seasons and his contract is not that ideal either. However, his contract is much more ideal than Love’s and both Bryant and Hutchison are going to be in the final year of their contracts, meaning Cleveland would not be tied down to them long-term.
Right now, Cleveland has some major roster moves to get done, as they have some young talent but they are still far off from being a legit threat in the Eastern Conference. They could possibly sneak into the play-in tournament next year, but the chances of them making the playoffs are slim, which is why getting rid of Kevin Love is the only real win from this trade.

While they would like to get players and draft picks that can help them down the line, getting rid of Kevin Love really is the only thing the Cavaliers should try to do this offseason, which is why they should make this trade immediately.
Davis Bertans is definitely a player that they could look to trade at the trade deadline next year should they not want to keep him long-term and with both Bryant and Hutchison not being tied down long-term, they are two solid players that Cleveland could use in their rotation for next season.
There is really nothing not to like about this trade for the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is why it definitely makes sense for them, even if they do lose three draft picks in this deal.
