Charlotte Hornets need to address their frontcourt in the offseason:

All season long, the talk in Charlotte has been that they need to improve their frontcourt and that showed big time in this game against the Pacers. P.J. Washington was solid and put together a really solid second season with the Hornets, but outside of Washington, the Hornets really do not have much talent in their frontcourt.

Cody Zeller had a surprisingly nice game against the Pacers, scoring 17 points and grabbing 3 rebounds off-the-bench, but Bismack Biyombo was non-existent and that is basically all of Charlotte’s frontcourt this season.

With Zeller being an unrestricted free agent this offseason and the Hornets having roughly $28.8M in cap space entering the offseason, they will definitely have the capability to go after one of the better big men available in free agency, the only question that remains is who will they go after?

At the trade deadline this year, there were talks about the Hornets pursuing Montrezl Harrell and Andre Drummond, but nothing ever materialized in terms of a finalized trade proposal. Both of these guys could be two targets for Charlotte in the offseason, as could Richaun Holmes and Hassan Whiteside.

Holmes is going to be one of the more pursued big men on the market this offseason, especially since he is coming off of a career-year in Sacramento and is only 27-years-old, but Whiteside could be an interesting veteran pickup for a team like the Hornets.

He is probably last on the list out of these four guys named above in terms of what Charlotte is looking to add in their frontcourt, but he has proven to be a rebounding/shot-blocking machine and to top it all off, he is from Gastonia, North Carolina, which is about a half-hour away from Charlotte.

The Hornets have never been an organization that has looked to spend big money in free agency and go over the hard cap, but they desperately need to add a reliable, core big man next to P.J. Washington in the offseason, so seeing them go after a guy like Andre Drummond or Richaun Holmes seems highly likely at this point.
