Why This Trade Would Benefit The San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have a chance to return to the postseason this year. Gregg Popovich is one of the top coaches in the league and would not allow his team to stay down for too long. Players like Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson are showing that they have what it takes to lead a team and this is something that the Spurs will rely on.
Aldridge’s current contract situation means that the team will not have him as a part of the future plan. Anything is better than nothing and this is what San Antonio has to be thinking. Cody Zeller will be a dump for Charlotte and the Spurs could let him go to free agency at the end of the season.
This is less about the return and more about getting rid of a veteran name. In the process, the Spurs could add some depth and a draft pick.
