Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Denver Nuggets

After making the Western Conference Finals last season, there were a lot of expectations placed on this Denver Nuggets team entering the season and while they are currently 21-15, they have struggled to find production outside of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic at times this year.

Michael Porter Jr, Gary Harris, Paul Millsap and JaMychal Green have all missed an extended period of time this season with injuries and with there being a void to fill left behind by Jerami Grant, the Nuggets have a lot for improvement, especially if they want to have another shot at making the NBA Finals.

With Nikola Jokic looking like a true MVP candidate, Jamal Murray continuing to evolve into a superstar player and Michael Porter Jr. healthy again, the Nuggets definitely have the firepower to be one of the better teams in the West, but they could definitely use that extra “spark” off-the-bench.

Adding Eric Gordon not only gives them a reliable shooting guard who is more than capable of being this team’s third or fourth best scoring option, but it gives them a player who can open things up offensively.

The Nuggets play a lot of “two-man” basketball with Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic playing off of each other, but with Eric Gordon on this roster, they can spread the floor a little bit more and have yet another perimeter option that Jokic can kick the ball out to for a wide-open three-point attempt.

Not to mention, the veteran shooting guard is a very consistent player and can score in double-figures almost every single night. With Gary Harris’ struggles over the years and the lack of backcourt depth on this roster, adding Eric Gordon would be a tremendous move for the Nuggets and definitely improve their chances of making it back to the Western Conference Finals this season.
