Since NBA superstar Anthony Davis injured his calf against the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 14, the Lakers are 3-6, including the loss to Denver. For the season, the Lakers are averaging 111.1 points per game, but since that Nuggets game, they are averaging just 105 points per game and have taken a hit defensively as well.
Of course, anytime you lose a superstar, All-Star player like Anthony Davis, your team is going to struggle, but the Lakers are in trouble unless they make some kind of a move to add more frontcourt depth. AD is expected to be sidelined until after the All-Star break, but it is unclear how much of the month of March he will miss.
The Lakers’ big man missed time earlier in the season with calf soreness and swelling of the tissue around his achilles, so this calf strain he suffered against the Nuggets was assumed to be a “re-injury” or worse “flare up” from a previous injury.
