Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
The Knicks need a finisher. They do not have anybody at the end of the game who can take and make a big shot. The star power has been absent in New York since Carmelo Anthony was traded away. They have failed to sign anyone in free agency so might have to go to trade route to land the next-level player.
If Victor Oladipo is that player, then so be it. The front office of the Knicks came out and said in the offseason that they would be interested in adding an undesirable contract. Since he’s on an expiring deal, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to capitalize.
The Knicks missed out on players like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook in trades after previously striking out on superstars like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Zion Williamson. Here is a chance for the team to take advantage of another rebuilding franchise.
RJ Barrett and Julius Randle have been leading the Knicks this season and could use a star along side. This would take New York’s lineup to the next level and point them in a bit of the right direction en route to a potential playoff appearance.
It will take many years for the Knicks to rebuild their roster unless they get that star that they have missed. There was one on the table and they could get him for cheap if they move immediately.
