Why This Trade Would Benefit The Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are in a big rebuilding phase. They brought in D’Angelo Russell initially to team up with Karl-Anthony Towns because the two are close on and off the course. After adding Anthony Edwards with the first overall pick, they could choose to trade D’Angelo Russell for a return.
The Mavericks have intriguing assets that they would be able to send back. Hardaway Jr. is a proven commodity on the perimeter and a strong three-point shooter. Brunson and Johnson are players with experience coming off the bench and playing productive minutes for Dallas.
Quality players and draft picks are extremely beneficial for rebuilding teams. Minnesota could use both as soon as possible as they have simply failed to get on the right track around Karl-Anthony Towns over the years.
This is not a move that will win the Timberwolves a championship or even get them to the postseason but it just would point them in the right direction. There are plenty of moves out there for the Timberwolves to make and they will have to do some serious retooling over the course of the next few years.
