Why This Trade Would Benefit The Philadelphia 76ers

There is only so much the Philadelphia 76ers will be capable of achieving with Ben Simmons in a featured role. It’s clear he must play with at least dynamic shot creator that can hit pull-ups from deep and force the defense to give different looks.

It’s unlikely the 76ers will be able to land that kind of talent without giving up Simmons in a trade in the process. It’s actually worth considering when factoring in how Joel Embiid has emerged as a legitimate NBA MVP caliber talent.

Now would be the time to go ‘all-in’ with Embiid as the centerpiece of the franchise. He is a tantalizing force in the lane and when he gets downhill there’s nothing the opposition can do to stop him. Imagine pairing that with a shot creator like Kyrie Irving?

The 76ers would be able to keep Matisse Thybulle on the wing in this particular deal and would land Bruce Brown in addition to Irving. It wouldn’t be a steep price for landing one of the NBA’s best players.
