Why This Trade Would Benefit The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have their fair share of star players and now it is time to round out the roster. This is what it takes to build a championship team and that is what the Celtics are heading for. They are looking to take the next step this season has to be eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago.

Tristan Thompson was the big signing in Boston to improve the frontcourt. They did not do much in the draft with their three first-round picks to improve the position. Barnes would come to the team and help in many ways. He is a winning player with championship experience.

Barnes is a versatile player that can help down low and also on the perimeter. Finally, they would not have to give up too much in return. The Kings would seek mostly to move on from Barnes’ large contract and the Celtics have a substantial trade exception to take it on.

Barnes could be a nice piece to slot in as a small-ball power forward in the starting lineup, or simply to play heavy minutes off the bench. It will be interesting to see if Danny Ainge makes any move prior to the deadline.
