Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of talent already on their roster and there isn’t a pressing need to make a significant change. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the fold, the foundation is set, but the supporting cast could always use some fine-tuning.
The greatest attribute Murray brings to the table is his on-ball defense. He can check the best shot creators around the NBA and that’s a helpful skill for a contender like the Lakers to have to gear up to defend their title.
While Murray hasn’t quite taken a leap forward in his offensive development yet, he still has extra gears to reach. Recently, he displayed some intriguing potential when he recorded 29 points and 7 assists against the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 30.
It doesn’t hurt that Murray is under contract long-term and the Lakers won’t have to worry about getting a deal done for a point guard. That currently isn’t the case with Dennis Schroder as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent next NBA offseason.
