The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a successful NBA title run and are currently working to repeat as champions. There is always room to maximize the supporting cast around stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. There’s a talent on the San Antonio Spurs that could help.
If there’s a Spurs player that could help the Lakers both immediately and long-term is Dejounte Murray. The 24-year-old hasn’t quite emerged as a star player in the NBA but he’s well-versed on his personal strengths and has an overall skill-set that would help a contender.
Murray is off to quite a strong start to the very young 2020-21 NBA season. He is currently averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists with strong efficiency through his initial four games.
If the Lakers don’t want to allow its starting point guard to reach free agency without a long-term deal in place next NBA offseason, making a trade for Murray could be an answer. It would help provide a cheaper option for the position than what Dennis Schroder will likely command.
Let’s take a look at a trade package between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs centered around Dejounte Murray.
