Stephen Curry Wins His Third NBA MVP Award

All of these bold predictions and all the talk about new teams making the playoffs, but where did it bring us? Back to the Golden State Warriors and a guy named Stephen Curry.

After a disappointing 2019-20 season, a season in which Klay Thompson sat out rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and Steph Curry sitting out most of the year with a broken hand, the Warriors ended up 15-50 and with the #2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

All seemed like it was aligning for the Warriors to come back stronger than ever this upcoming season until news surfaced that Klay Thompson suffered an Achilles injury during a workout with friends and personal trainers that would keep him out for the entire 2020-21 NBA season. Now, Thompson will miss his second consecutive season and leaves the Warriors with a massive hole.

They did bring in James Wiseman with the #2 overall pick and trade for Kelly Oubre Jr. to try and fill the void Thompson’s injury leaves on this roster, but in the end, the Warriors’ success will revolve around Steph Curry and his greatness. By the time he is ready to retire, Curry will go down as the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA and because of his will to continue to get better, the Warriors have a chance to shock a lot of NBA fans this season and make the playoffs.

If they are to make the playoffs this year though and make a legit run at another championship, it will be because of Stephen Curry winning his third MVP of his career. With Thompson out, Curry could very well elevate his play and have a season as he did during the 2015-16 season, a season in which he was named the first unanimous MVP in league history.

There are no limits to what Stephen Curry can achieve as the focal point of the Warriors this season and given the circumstances, could wind up having the best season of his career. If he is able to win the league MVP this year and is able to help take the Warriors deep into the playoffs, he will not only solidify himself as one of the all-time greatest players in NBA history, but will prove to everyone around the league that the Warriors are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Now, if he leads them to a title this year that is a whole different story of greatness and it could go down as the greatest championship story in the history of the NBA, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Coming back from his injury last year and playing with a chip on his shoulder, the NBA better look out for Steph Curry because he is ready to silence all of his doubters this season.
