Is Victor Oladipo Going To Be Traded?

Oladipo’s name has been mentioned a lot in trade rumors this offseason and while both he and the Pacers shoot down any speculation of Oladipo being on the move, Indiana did not get a contract extension in place to keep him long-term. Whether or not this is because they want to monitor the former All-Star’s injury situation and make sure he can still play at a high-level, Oladipo’s future in Indiana is very much up-in-the-air.

In the last three seasons, Victor Oladipo has played in just 130 games and has averaged 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and shot 45.3% from the floor. In his first two seasons with the Pacers, Oladipo was a NBA All-Star, but those days seem to be far in the distance now as two major leg injuries have hurt Oladipo’s chances of playing.

In back to back seasons, Oladipo suffered a broken leg and then a ruptured quadriceps tendon on the same leg. Durability and athleticism is definitely a concern moving forward with Oladipo in his career and could be a factor in him being traded away by the Pacers this season.

As it stands right now, the market for Oladipo is pretty slim because, much like the Pacers, teams around the league want to see if he can still play at a high-level. If he is to be traded by Indiana, it likely will not come until the trade deadline, so teams can evaluate him and so the Pacers can increase his value.

Since his first season with the Pacers in 2017, Oladipo’s offensive numbers have continually declined and while a lot of this has to do with the injuries he has suffered, it is definitely a major concern entering his fourth season with the team. If Victor Oladipo is not traded during the trade deadline, the Pacers will definitely explore sign-and-trade options next offseason as it is leaning towards this being Oladipo’s final season with the Indiana Pacers.
