Russell Westbrook Averages Triple-Double For The Season

At 32-years old, many NBA players would be on the back-half of their careers and thinking about their eventual retirement, but Russell Westbrook is still in the prime of his career and wants to win a championship.

Westbrook has been an All-Star in nine out of 12 of his NBA season and became just the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double over the course of a season in the 2016-17 season, joining the likes of “The Big O,” Hall-of-Famer Oscar Robertson.

Over the last four seasons, Russell Westbrook has averaged a triple-double in three seasons, failing to do so last year with James Harden and the Houston Rockets. Outside of scoring numbers, Russell Westbrook had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career and seemed to have a lesser role than he was used to having over the years with the Thunder.

Now, with his former Thunder head coach Scott Brooks calling the shots in Washington and joining a team with virtually no identity, Russell Westbrook will be able to go out and play the way he wants to play, making him a triple-double machine once again. Not only will he help a team that finished near the bottom of the league in rebounding, but he will also be the team’s top assist-man, making them a Top-10 assist team in the league.

Bradley Beal will likely give up the role of being the primary ball-handler to Russell Westbrook, so he can play where is better at, which is off-the-ball, and Scott Brooks always found ways to succeed with Westbrook. Expect to see Russell Westbrook not only average a triple-double again this season, but lead the league in triple-doubles during the 2020-21 NBA season.
