Raptors Receive: Eric Bledsoe, JJ Redick, 2021 1st Round Pick

Pelicans Receive: Kyle Lowry

Looking at this trade, the Raptors would be looking to stay in contention even with moving on from Lowry. They would be bringing back players to surround point guard Fred Van Vleet and forward Pascal Siakam. Trading Lowry may not help them compete more, but this package could make a ton of sense.

For the Pelicans, being able to acquire a former All-Star point guard would be ideal. Being able to do that by trading a point guard in Eric Bledsoe that isn’t going to fit long-term and a veteran guard and sharpshooter in JJ Redick would be perfect. Adding in a first-round pick would be necessary to bring in a player of Lowry’s caliber.

Granted, this trade may not have a chance of happening. This would all depend on the Raptors’ willingness to trade Lowry. But, it would be worth taking a look at.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at this trade for both the Pelicans and Raptors and why it would make sense to pull the trigger.
