Bucks Will Struggle To Find Production From Its Bench This Year

Last season, the Milwaukee Bucks averaged 40.0 points per game from their bench, ranking them 8th in the NBA in total bench scoring. Donte DiVincenzo, George Hill, Kyle Korver, Ersan Ilyasova, and Robin Lopez were all key bench scorers for the Bucks last season and this upcoming year, only one of these guys returns. DiVincenzo is the only key bench player returning for the Bucks and this is extremely concerning.

Although he averaged 9.2 points per game while shooting 45.5% from the floor, he struggled to shoot from deep, only shooting 33.6% for the season from beyond-the-arc. Milwaukee added Bryn Forbes, Nik Stauskis, Bobby Portis and Torrey Craig this offseason, as well as re-signed Pat Connaguthon on the wing, but all of these players are streaky scorers and not consistent offensive options off the bench like Korver and Hill were.

Over the course of the year, the Milwaukee Bucks bench will struggle and as a result, will put even more weight on the shoulders of Giannis Antetokounmpo to carry this team. When you look at some of the past champions over the years in the NBA, they all had great starting rotations, but the biggest thing that helped win them a championship was their bench and the role players who could come in and provide scoring in bunches.

When looking at this Bucks roster, there is nobody you can point to on the bench and feel comfortable with offensively. All these guys listed above are definitely solid players and can potentially make a difference but none of those guys are going to go out every night and average double-figures off the bench like George Hill and Kyle Korver could consistently do.

As a result, the Milwaukee Bucks bench is going to struggle over the course of the 72-game season and unless Milwaukee strengthens it around the trade deadline, they will not be a Top-10 bench in the NBA.
