The Hypothetical Trade

Rockets Receive: D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Ricky Rubio, 2022 1st Round Pick, 2024 1st Round Pick, 2026 1st Round Pick

Timberwolves Receive: James Harden, PJ Tucker, Ben McLemore, Danuel House Jr.

Let’s start this off with a disclaimer about the trade. This deal could not go through until December 29th, due to the fact that Anthony Edwards cannot be traded until 30 days after he signed his rookie deal. But, that timetable would still be a possibility.

Harden may very well be on the move soon. However, the Rockets are not going to rush the process. They need to make sure that they are going to get the best value that they possibly can for the superstar shooting guard.

As for the Timberwolves, they are not going to lose interest in this trade. Not only would they be acquiring arguably the best scorer in the game in Harden, they would be keeping Karl-Anthony Towns happy.

All of that being said, let’s take a deeper look at this trade for both the Rockets and Timberwolves and why it would make sense for this deal to happen.
