Cavaliers Deal Kevin Love At The Trade Deadline

Whether it is to a legit title contender or a borderline playoff team, Kevin Love will be traded by the Cavaliers near the trade deadline this season. Not only is he owed over $90M for the next three seasons, but his hefty contract is ruining the Cavaliers’ ability to re-sign their core of youth and bring in solid players around them in free agency.

At this point in his career, there is no need to keep Kevin Love on the Cavaliers because he cannot contribute anything to them. They are a losing organization and have nothing going for them at this point in time besides losing games, so why would he want to endure that? He was a part of the Cavaliers championship team in 2016, which is why they rewarded him with such a big contract, but if this organization truly cares about Kevin Love, they will trade him away.

Let the man find success at the end of his career in a place that values winning and from the Cavs’ point of view, bring in some draft picks in the process! No free agent is going to want to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, so the only way for this team to get better is through the draft. If they do not trade Love at the trade deadline, the Cavaliers must make it a point to trade him before the 2021 NBA Draft.

Keeping Kevin Love may earn this team a couple more wins, but for a team that has close to a 0% chance of making the playoffs, what does this do for them? Sure there is a sense of pride and whatnot by not losing games, but the Cavaliers are destined to finish with a losing record anyways, so what is the point of paying a guy $30M a year if you are going to end up with a lottery pick anyways?

Trade Kevin Love, get some draft picks, and attempt to figure this out because what the Cleveland Cavaliers have right now is a complete mess and a disaster.
