Cavaliers Will Finish With Worst Record In The NBA

The only good thing about finishing dead-last in the standings is that the Cleveland Cavaliers would have a shot at getting the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Given the fact that they have the worst roster in the NBA and that they have no All-Star level talents on their roster, the Cavaliers will finish in last-place in the standings and get awarded with the #1 overall pick for the fourth time since 2011.

While they may win more than 19 games this season, they will not win more than 25 games. Collin Sexton is a great young player and is the guy the Cavaliers can build around for years to come, but he cannot carry this team on his own and as far as we know, LeBron James is not walking through those doors to the Cavaliers facility anymore.

Since LeBron James entered the league in 2003, the Cavaliers have made the playoffs 9 times, but 0 times without James on the roster. Bringing him back for a second-time after his time with the Miami Heat did deliver them their first championship in franchise history, but it crippled this organization for years to come.

They do not have the finances to be able to sign key free agents anymore and after giving up a fair amount of draft picks over the years to assemble a championship roster, the Cavs have very limited draft capital. This organization is stuck in an awkward spot in the league and the best thing they can do is lose so they can secure the #1 overall pick in the draft.

This is the only win that really matters for the Cavaliers for the 2020-21 NBA season because every actual win they have draws them farther away from getting the 1st pick in the draft. Losing is better than winning in this case for the Cavaliers, something they have gotten pretty good at over the years.
