2020-21 Season Outlook
Looking up and down this roster, it is very clear to see that shooting is the main strength of the 2020-21 Atlanta Hawks. Six players on their roster shot over 35% from three-point range last season and with all of these threats, it will be hard for teams to guard the Hawks.
Not to mention, Trae Young is only going to get better. It sounds scary to say, but Trae Young averaged just under 30 points per game last season in only his second season in the league. He will, without a doubt, continue to be an All-Star and be the face of the franchise for the next decade.
Gallinari and Bogdanovic provide stability to a youthful Hawks team that has not had much leadership over the years. Not to knock on Trae Young’s leadership abilities, but he is still very young and still learning the in’s and out’s of the league. With Clint Capela as another veteran on the team this upcoming season, the Hawks have a great group of veterans as well as youthful talen to carry them very far.
The Hawks have great shooters, great defenders, and a great young head coach in Lloyd Pierce, who is ready to show what he can do with a legit roster in the Eastern Conference. It would not be surprising to see the Hawks blow out expectations and be one of the Top 5 teams in the Eastern Conference this season.
It is hard to make a prediction on their record for the upcoming season as we do not have clarity on when this season will end/how many games each team will play, but it is not hard to believe that this Hawks team could win between 40-50 games in an 82 game season. Fully healthy, this team matches up well with virtually any team in the league and with the high level shooting and scoring they have, the future is very bright in Atlanta. Look out for the Hawks in the Eastern Conference because they are back and ready to give every team in the Eastern Conference a run for their money.
