4. New York Knicks
The Knicks are in the market for a superstar. It does not matter the cost. They need a player who can mentor the youth and change the culture of the franchise.
Names like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook have come up because the Knicks said they are willing to take on an undesirable contract. Zach LaVine is another option in a trade with the Bulls.
The Knicks set up their roster with short-term contracts so they would be able to match salary in a blockbuster trade. Bobby Portis has a team option, while Taj Gibson and Wayne Ellington are on partially-guaranteed contracts.
New York potentially has room to add LaVine and another big name player. With Leon Rose taking over basketball operations, it makes some believe that the Knicks will move quickly in their pursuit of a star.
Will Rose make that much of a difference or will history repeat itself? This seems to happen every offseason where the Knicks try to make a splash but can only manage a toe in the kiddie pool. It will be interesting to see what happens around draft time.
