4. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves was the big winner of the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. No, they will not use this pick on Killian Hayes but if they want to trade down and acquire more assets, they could land him.
It all depends on how the Timberwolves view Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball. Realistically, the difference is not large enough to not consider a trade. When talking about the fit of Hayes, it makes perfect sense. Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the premier big men in the game. D’Angelo Russell will hold down the shooting guard position.
It could be up to Hayes to finish off the Timberwolves backcourt— something that hasn’t been talked about by many experts. Unlike Edwards and Ball, Hayes would not be a score-first guard. He has the ability to be but can also pass with great skill.
Hayes is a triple-threat player. He will continue to improve and grow once he matures a little more. His playmaking ability should have the Timberwolves salivating as they sit at the top of the 2020 NBA Draft. Minnesota should strongly consider trading the top pick for a nice return.
