Suns’ Devin Booker Wants Out Of Phoenix?

There have been a few recent reports about Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker potentially wanting out of town with conflicting information. As one might expect, these updates have caught the NBA rumor mill by storm.

During a recent episode of the Bill Simmons Podcast, Ryen Russillo reported that it’s “the worst kept secret” that Booker wants to play elsewhere. However, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto and Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix’s John Gambadoro each have refuted this report.

On the surface, the original information put out about Booker potentially wanting out of Phoenix doesn’t seem to be valid, at least anymore. The Suns are truly trending in the right direction after pulling off an 8-0 run in the NBA bubble with Booker as the team’s clear-cut best player.

The Suns will need to build on that run in the NBA bubble though. If they do fail to make the playoffs in a loaded Western Conference for another season, then perhaps that could begin to wear on Booker.

The suspension the NBA handed out to Deandre Ayton early last season made it quite difficult for the Suns to thrive and hit a stride. Once they were able to get their personnel back in the lineup, they found a rhythm— up until the season was suspended in March.

Now, the Suns enter the NBA offseason with the No. 10 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and some intriguing prospects like Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson in the supporting cast. There’s plenty of reason to believe Phoenix has what it takes to make a big move happen, if they sought one.

For now, it’s important to see how the Phoenix Suns’ efforts to build around Booker play out. They are trending in the right direction with the resources to add to their roster. Don’t expect a trade featuring Devin Booker to take place anytime soon.
