Milwaukee Bucks Already Eyeing Some Targets?

The Milwaukee Bucks will have the attention of many from around the NBA this offseason. As previously mentioned, there has been no shortage of speculation about a possible deal involving Chris Paul, or another star player of that level.

So far, the targets the Bucks have been linked to have not been All-Star level talents. Per ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Milwaukee ‘loves’ the idea of adding Bogdan Bogdanovic in a sign-and-trade deal and have ‘kicked’ around the idea of absorbing the contract of Harrison Barnes to do it.

There is a lot to like about the fit for Bogdanovic with a team that has complete floor spacing like the Bucks. He is a reliable perimeter shooter and converted at a 39.2% clip on 4.2 attempts per game last season. He is capable of thriving without the ball and within the flow of the game.

The main stipulation to monitor in regards to the Bucks potentially acquiring Bogdanovic involves the potential hard cap implications— something that would be triggered by involving Barnes in most variations of a potential deal.

The Bucks would need to determine if acquiring a talent of Bogdanovic’s caliber is worth the potential salary cap penalties. Additionally, if there already will be a need to pay that level of tax to the NBA, then why not swing for the fences this season and withstand paying even more?

The particular trade target for the Bucks may not be easy to pinpoint at this current juncture. Seeing as though there already are names being linked to them yet there hasn’t been traction for a Chris Paul or Victor Oladipo deal is a bit transparent for potential plans.

When the Milwaukee Bucks do end up making roster changes this NBA offseason, expect the move to feature talents who feature more of a complementary skill-set, as opposed to a star player with a hefty salary cap burden.
