Why It Makes Sense For The Pelicans

On one hand, the Pelicans would be giving up an All-Star guard in Jrue Holiday and a talented young guard in Lonzo Ball. But, replacing them with a dynamic star like Ben Simmons could be what propels them back into contention.

Zion Williamson and Simmons would be one of the strongest duos in the league. They are both young and have tons of room to develop as well.

Al Horford may not be hyped up as a star anymore, but he is still a very good center. He can score the ball well, rebound, and defend the rim. Adding him as a strong veteran presence would be very valuable for the Pelicans.

In order to make this trade happen with the 76ers, the Pelicans would have to be of the mindset that they want to win now. Simmons, Horford, and Zion Williamson could make that happen. But, it might not be enough to contend with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers.
