NBA Trade Outcome No. 4 – Knicks Finally Acquire Chris Paul

Chris Paul has been linked to New York for years. For Knicks fans, they may not have imagined acquiring him at 35, but hear the rationale.

Yes, Paul’s contract is backloaded, to put it nicely.

He does not appear to be in the Thunder’s long-term plans, as Oklahoma City has enough future picks to draft an entire new core if they’d like.

To match salaries, the Knicks would have to part with Julius Randle, Elfrid Payton and Frank Ntilikina.

Paul, at this stage of his career would bring something different obviously than if New York acquired him in, say, 2012. Still, though, he’s more than serviceable and he brings a wealth of experience to an otherwise young team.
