NBA Trade Outcome No. 7 – Cavaliers Part Ways With Kevin Love

It might be easy to forget that Kevin Love has been in “The Land” for over six years now.

Love, of course, went to Cleveland to pair with LeBron James, but James is basking in the Hollywood sun now, and it’s time for Cleveland for move Love.

The Cavs reportedly don’t want to go all-in on a youth movement, so let’s give them a few veteran players, plus a pick, and a new home for Love.

Hypothetical: The New York Knicks acquire Kevin Love from Cleveland, in exchange for Julius Randle, Taj Gibson and a first round pick.

This trade allows Cleveland to have options to replace Love on the floor, and not lose a valuable veteran presence. A first added onto the deal might be enough to entice Dan Gilbert to part with Love.

For the Knicks, Love may not be in the class of stars they’d expect (Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving a year ago) but he’s a consummate professional who knows how to win.
