Steven Adams, Oklahoma City Thunder
If Boston is intent on gaining size in their lineup, they could look to Oklahoma City for a player with more experience than Turner, as the Thunder inevitably enter a rebuild.
Steven Adams is the last remnant of the Thunder’s glory days with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. If the Thunder are in a full-blown rebuild — as last year’s trades of Westbrook and Paul George suggest, despite making the playoffs this season — they should explore Adams’ value on the trade market.
Boston is a city known for its grit and toughness, and in that sense, there may not be a better fit, from solely an attitude standpoint, than Adams. From the long hair, to the menacing tattoos, paired with his all-out play style, Adams has earned a reputation as a player who gives his all for his team. That mentality would easily win him fans in Boston, just as it did for so many years in Oklahoma City.
In Adams, the Celtics would initially get a one-year rental, unless the two sides come to a long-term agreement. Adams is under contract for the 2020-21 season, and is slated to earn $27.5 million before he can reach unrestricted free agency in 2021.
