Victor Oladipo, Indiana Pacers
Victor Oladipo’s name has come up recently in connection with the Celtics, and for good reason. Oladipo, when healthy, may be the type of player who can help push Boston over the top.
As Jared Weiss of The Athletic points out, the Celtics would likely have to move Gordon Hayward to Indiana, along with a combination of picks to be able to facilitate a deal.
A Hayward-for-Oladipo swap would mean the two former All Stars, both of whom have dealt with serious injuries in the past, would get a fresh start elsewhere.
The addition of Oladipo may not bode well for Kemba Walker, but if Boston is truly going to reevaluate the structure of its roster, Walker’s status could come into question regardless of Oladipo’s acquisition.
Despite his injury history, Oladipo is still just 28 years old, likely entering the prime of his playing career. The 2020-21 season will be the last of his contract, when he’s set to make $21 million. If Oladipo is dealt out of Indiana, he should be seeking a new long-term commitment elsewhere.
