Golden State Warriors: 3 Takeaways from the 2018 NBA Offseason

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Bell Is Ready to Take the Next Step

One positive that can be taken from the Warriors’ Summer League was the development shown by Jordan Bell. He showed flashes of big potential last season in limited minutes, but Bell appears to have been working hard this offseason to improve his weaknesses.

He has received quite a few comparisons to his teammate, Draymond Green. Bell is an excellent defender and has been improving his offensive game. He is also a solid all-around passer.

Last season with the Warriors, Bell averaged 4.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game. He played just 14.2 minutes per game. Those numbers are pretty impressive for a rookie playing in the Warriors’ system with a small amount of minutes.

Golden State may not give Bell a much bigger role, but he is capable of handling a lot more this season. If an injury occurs, Bell will be ready to step in. Even without an injury, Kerr could decide to bump Bell’s minutes per game up.
