Jacob Evans Might Just Be a Major Steal

Golden State did make a draft pick this year and ended up taking guard Jacob Evans with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. It was a move that went under the radar, but one that could end up being a huge addition for the Warriors when everything is said and done.

Last season with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Evans showed off his all-around game. He averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. He shot 42.7 percent from the field overall and knocked down 37.0 percent of his three-point attempts.

Evans is a combo-guard that will be able to guard both point guards and shooting guards in the NBA. He is a capable offensive threat, although he will need to improve as a shooter to fit into the Golden State offense. That is something that he will be more than capable of learning when playing with shooters like Curry and Thompson.

More than likely, Evans will not see much playing time as a rookie. He will be developed over the next couple of seasons and groomed into a role player. Evans may not end up being a star, but he could very well become the type of bench piece that provides production on both ends of the court in a couple seasons.
