There have been some debates recently about who the next face of the NBA is going to be. Some of the older players who have carried that title are approaching the end of their careers and a new batch of young stars is going to look to take their place.

One of those young stars is Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards. Edwards made his second All-Star game appearance this season and has a chance to really cement his status as one of the faces of the NBA in the coming weeks.

Minnesota is in a battle for first place in the Western Conference with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. Their path to the No. 1 seed has gotten more challenging with fellow All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns going down with a knee injury.

Without Towns, the onus will be on Edwards to carry the Timberwolves. Seconds into their game against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, it didn’t look like he would even get the chance to do that. He rolled his ankle less than a minute into the game and headed to the locker room.

Luckily, he was able to return to the game and ended up putting together the kind of performance you expect from your star. Edwards poured in 44 points, with 16 of them coming in the fourth quarter, with a potential highlight block of the season in the NBA to cap off the victory.

That is the kind of performance you want to see from a young, emerging player that needs to take another step to keep a team afloat. When it mattered most, Edwards stepped up for the Timberwolves as he dominated the last 76 seconds of the game.

As shared by Nathan Marzion on X, Edwards imprint was all over the win. On the last few possessions of the game, he nailed a 3-pointer and two more impressive jump shots to help Minnesota keep pace.

When he missed a free throw to put the team up three points, he more than made up for it with the highlight block at the other end. That kind of hustle and determination to win is what will lead to Edwards being one of the best players in the NBA and Minnesota finding plenty of success.

Edwards said after the game that was the highest he has ever jumped to block that shot, as he hit his head on the rim. Whatever pain he felt from that must have gone away knowing that he helped his team get a huge victory on the road over the Pacers.
