Sacramento Kings big man is having one of the most productive seasons in NBA history during the 2023-24 campaign. He has recorded a double-double in 38 straight games and is within reach of the single-season record held by Hakeem Olajuwon.

Olajuwon set the record of 72 double-doubles in the 1992-93 season. As long as Sabonis can stay healthy, that streak will be in jeopardy. On the season, he has already racked up 53 and he has 25 games remaining in the season.

Whether or not Sabonis breaks that record, his 2023-24 campaign is already a historic one. As shared by NBA History on X, Sabonis recorded his 20th triple-double of the season on February 25th in a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Domantas Sabonis, Nikola Jokic, Oscar Robertson, Sacramento Kings Updates

That made him just the sixth player in NBA history to record at least 20 triple-doubles in a season. He joins Oscar Robertson, who has the most such seasons with five, Russell Westbrook, Wilt Chamberlain, Nikola Jokic and James Harden

Jokic and Harden have each reached that plateau once in their careers. Westbrook and Chamberlain did it four and two times, making them and Robertson the only players to achieve the feat more than once.

Sabonis kept the impressive production up on the second night of a back-to-back against the Miami Heat on Monday night. He scored 14 points with 14 rebounds and 10 assists, giving him his 21st triple-double of the season, which leads the NBA.

Second on that list is Jokic with 18. If he can get two more, he would become the fourth player in NBA history to have 20+ triple-doubles in more than one season. The only other player with double-digit triple-doubles this season is Luka Doncic with 10.

Only eight other players have recorded multiple triple-doubles this season, as it is no easy feat to stuff the stat sheet in the fashion Sabonis has this season. Knocking on the door of history, he is hopeful that it will result in another playoff appearance for his Kings.
