By contrast, the Washington Wizards are another team to watch – for entirely different reasons. They’re one of the worst teams in the league, so they’re expecting to be sellers leading up to the deadline. Could they send Kyle Kuzma to the Warriors?

The Warriors may not make a move. They may prioritize the future. On the other hand, the Wizards may stand pat as well. They could decide that Kuzma’s value is likely to increase as his contract continues to get shorter.

Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
Reports suggest that the Wizards want multiple first-round picks for Kuzma. That feels optimistic. With so many years left on his deal, teams may get sticker shock before sending over that type of draft capital.
With that said, if they package him with Jones, an unprotected first and a swap should be doable. That’s what the Wizards are getting here. It would be a sensible decision for Washington to flip their two best veterans at market value.

The Wizards shouldn’t mind bringing Paul in for the rest of the year, either. He could be a valuable mentor for this young team for the rest of the year, and he’s on an expiring deal. Should the Warriors absorb Kuzma’s contract?
Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
That’s debatable. This isn’t a no-brainer for the Warriors. They’re taking on a large, long-term deal, and it may not even push them into title contention.
With that said – it might. Kuzma is very good. He’s got a well-rounded skillset. Kuzma can space the floor, create shots for himself and his teammates, defend, and rebound. He’ll be a valuable addition to this roster.

Meanwhile, Jones should be an upgrade over the aging Paul. He offers as much ball security as anybody in the NBA, and he’s a great floor spacer. This is a deadline deal to watch – especially if you’re a Warriors fan.
