One NBA writer is proposing that the Orlando Magic acquire Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Magic and Hawks:

Orlando Magic Receive: Dejounte Murray

Atlanta Hawks Receive: Markelle Fultz, 2024 first-round pick (top-10 protection), Denver’s 2025 first-round pick (top-five protection), 2026 second-round pick (second-most favorable from Detroit, Milwaukee and Orlando, via Orlando)

The Hawks are expected to move Murray before the February 8 trade deadline and Favale believes Murray can help the Magic.

“Spacing and offensive organization remain Orlando’s Achilles heel. It ranks 28th in both points scored per possession and three-point shooting since Dec. 15, a stretch that has also seen the team win only about one-third of its games. Landing Murray helps address both glaring voids, albeit not perfectly,” Favale wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “His probing and passing will benefit the half-court offense, and he becomes more valuable defensively to a Magic squad with fewer weak links than Atlanta.”

Murray is averaging 21.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 47.1% from the field, 38.2% from beyond the arc and 82.9% from the free-throw line. The 27-year-old is making $17.7 million.

According to NBA insider Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Hawks want two first-round picks for Murray, who prefers to join a team with a chance to make an immediate playoff run. The Magic are 23-20 on the season. They are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Orlando could start Murray, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. if the Magic’s front office acquired Murray from the Hawks.
