Report: Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma Drawing Trade Interest From ‘Several’ Teams

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has drawn exploratory trade interest from several teams around the league.

The Wizards would need future first-round picks beyond the 2024 NBA Draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with Kuzma.

“Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has drawn exploratory trade interest from several teams around the league, league sources told HoopsHype, and that interest could intensify with teams missing out on Pascal Siakam,” Scotto wrote. “Following reports that Washington wants two first-round picks to potentially part with Kuzma, there is further clarity and caveats to that. The Wizards would need future first-round picks beyond the 2024 draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with their best player, league sources told HoopsHype.”

Kuzma, 28, is averaging 22.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.6 blocks this season while shooting 45.6% from the field, 34.8% from beyond the arc and 78.8% from the free-throw line. He’s making $25.6 million.

The Wizards signed Kuzma to a four-year, $90 million contract last offseason. Given Kuzma’s descending contract, there’s no immediate urgency for the Wizards to part with the swingman, per Scotto.

Washington is 7-32 on the season. They have the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference standings. Kuzma leads the Wizards in points per game and total points.

Kuzma has career averages of 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers and Wizards. He helped the Lakers win the 2020 championship over the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble.
