According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Los Angeles Clippers and small forward Paul George are having ongoing extension talks.

The Clippers signed two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard to a three-year extension today, so all signs point toward George getting a new deal.

George can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2024-25 player option. That likely won’t happen now that the Clippers have locked up Leonard.

An eight-time All-Star, George is averaging 23.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.4 blocks this season while shooting 46.0% from the field, 40.9% from beyond the arc and 91.8% from the free-throw line.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers Updates

The Clippers are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They look like legitimate title contenders with George, Leonard, James Harden and Russell Westbrook leading the way. However, we have seen the Clippers look dangerous in the regular season before, only for them to choke in the playoffs.

George and Leonard joined the Clippers in the summer of 2019. LAC acquired George from the Oklahoma City Thunder and signed Leonard in free agency. George and Leonard haven’t guided the Clippers to the NBA Finals yet.

Since getting traded to the Clippers, George is averaging 23.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.4 blocks. He’s one of the top two-way players in the NBA.

The 33-year-old George has career averages of 20.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.4 blocks with the Indiana Pacers, Thunder and Clippers. He has made six All-NBA teams and four All-Defensive teams.
