Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard put up 37 points and 13 assists against the Toronto Raptors on November 15. It was his first double-double with the Bucks.
“Last time we came here, they kind of blitzed us to start the game,” Lillard said. “So from the tip, I wanted to assert myself in that way and got right into the game instead of waiting and I was able to get it going.”
Lillard shot 9-of-18 from the field, 4-of-10 from beyond the arc and 15-of-16 from the free-throw line versus the Raptors.
“I didn’t even feel like I was hot tonight,” Lillard said. “I just felt in a good rhythm in the game. Just getting in the paint, causing guys to pull over, finding the open man. Attacking in transition, guys weren’t in a position to really do a whole lot. So they fouled me a lot and it just turned into one of those games with a good flow.”
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Damian Lillard, Milwaukee Bucks Updates
The Bucks improved to 7-4 on the season after beating the Raptors. Lillard is averaging 24.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 38.6% overall, 28.6% from 3 and 93.4% from the foul line.
“My pace was up from the beginning,” Lillard said. “So I was coming off screens hard and I was just making the bigs have to really cut me off. I wasn’t just accepting them coming out at the level. I was trying to turn the corner, and I think once they saw how hard I was coming off to turn the corner, they started to jump out there to try to anticipate me coming out and I was able to split them because they were anticipating that.”

The Bucks will continue to work on integrating Lillard into everything they do when Giannis Antetokounmpo returns, but for one night, Lillard’s individual offensive brilliance was enough to help Milwaukee get a big win.
